Continuing its drive “War against Drugs” Jammu and Kashmir Police Thursday arrested eleven notorious drug peddlers in North Kashmir’s Baramulla and Bandipora districts.

“469 bottles of codeine phosphate and about 7000 capsules of Spasmoproxyvan were recovered from their possession,” a police spokesman in a statement said.

He said that a Naka party of police Station Baramulla got alerted when they saw some suspicious activities taking place in a Truck bearing registration number JK02 AG 8069 at Kralhar near FCI Godown.

“On checking the cabin of the truck, 460 bottles of Codeine phosphate were recovered. The driver of the truck namely Manoj Kumar Bhat son of Pradeaman Bhat resident of Subash Nagar Rehari Colony Jammu and his accomplice namely Ghulam Mohi ud Din Akhoon son of Mohammad Yousuf Akhoon resident of Khaitangan Baramulla were arrested and the truck was seized. Both the arrested persons have a previous criminal record” he added.

A case FIR number under section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation was taken up.

Meanwhile, in Bandipora, a Special Task Force has been constituted in the district under the supervision of SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfkar Azad to curb the menace of drug peddling in the district.

Consequently, a police party of Police Station Bandipora headed by SHO Bandipora Gazanfar Syed accompanied by DO Police Post Aloosa Shahnawaz Ahmad under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Bandipora Mir Murtaza Hussian apprehended 09 notorious drug peddlers in Kehnoosa, Kaloosa and Mangnipora areas of the district.

A police spokesman said that these drug peddlers were identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan residents of  Boitangoo Sopore, Khursheed Ahmad Khan resident of Panzigam Bandipora, Waheed Ahmad Ganie resident of Hajin, Farhat Bashir Baba, Suhail Ahmad Rather resident of Saderkoot, Sadam Hussain Shah resident of Kaloosa, Rayees Ahmad Bhat resident of Aloosa and Tahir Rashid Matta resident of Ashtangoo.

“Nine bottles of codeine phosphate and about 7000 Capsules of Spasmoproxyvan were recovered from their possession” police said.

In this regard three case FIR numbers 25, 26, and 27/2018 under section 8/22, 29 have been registered and the investigation has been taken up.
