Militants attacked a CRPF foot patrol in Jawbrara village near Awantipore on the Srinagar Jammu highway Thursday evening. Initial reports said there were a few casualties and the operation to hunt the killers was launched.
“The attack has taken place and as per the initial information, two CRPF men were killed on the spot,” a police official told Kashmir Life. “The operation has been launched after the area was taken into cardon.” He said the police and CRPF are in the process of getting further details.
Reports said the attack triggered panic in the belt and disrupted movement on the highway as well. Details of the operation are awaited.
