Public Service Commission has received quite a few applications from Kashmir for KAS 2017 unlike Jammu that has responded in huge numbers. Applications were sought repeatedly and the process is still open.
PSC had been liberal in accepting the applications but three were not many applications, this season. In fact 4000 of the applications still have the mandatory bank draft awaited.
Bulk of the positions – 269 are junior KAS positions, two are KPS vacancies and are for accounts service.
Though the number of applicants from Kashmir have historically remained low for administrative positions, this season the unrest played a key role. While for most of three months, communication was seriously affected, the withdrawal of broadband an d internet services was another key factor. When the broadband was restored, it had low bandwidth that prevented the submission of online forms.
