Three members of a family were reportedly buried alive when their house in the remote Tanta village of Khara in Doda district collapsed this afternoon following incessant rains over the past two days.
According to official sources, the house of Muhammad Abbas at Tanta village, about 45 km from district headquarters Doda, collapsed following continuous rainfall.
Abass, his wife and daughter were buried alive under the debris. The wife and daughter of Abbas have been identified as Tasleema Bagum aged 25 and daughter Alya Banoo aged 4 years.
The victims were asleep when the house collapsed, locals said. The locals launched a rescue operation in the morning and retrieved all dead bodies from the debris, sources informed.
Local people demanded immediate rehabilitation and compensation for the victims.
