Handwara Police on Friday claimed to have solved a kidnapping case of a girl in shortest possible time and arrested the accused involved in the crime.

A police spokesman said in a statement Police Station Vilgam received a written complaint from one (name withheld) that his daughter aged about 22 years was kidnapped by Irfan Najar son of late Ghulam Mohd Najar resident of Daril Payeen Handwara.

“On the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Handwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani, a police party of Police station Vilgam headed by SHO Vilgam Inspector Mohd Sulamaan raided at various suspected locations, also established various checkpoints and massive searches were launched in and outside the district,” the spokesman added.

“After strenuous efforts of police, both the accused and victim were traced out from Magam area of Handwara. Accused arrested and in this regard, a case FIR No 11/2018 under section 363 RPC was registered in Police Station Vilgam. Further investigation is in progress,” they added.
