SRINAGAR

Overwhelmed by the advance bookings of tourist to valley, Jammu and Kashmir government has roped in various airlines asking them to start evening and morning flights from and to Srinagar international airport to make the travel convenient for tourist.

Minister for Tourism G.A.Mir told KNS, that at least one airline has already agreed to the proposal and was likely to launch the late evening service within a few days. “Go Air has agreed to start evening flights from and to Srinagar Airport and this will definite pave way for other airlines  to follow suit.” Minister told KNS, adding that the step would be a big boost to summer tourism in the state.

“Initially the last flight of Go Air will take off at 6.30 pm from Srinagar, and we will see  how  it works, before we could move towards the late right flight schedule,” added Mir.

” This will also reduce the multi flight operating mess on the runway. Presently we have 18 flights operating from Srinagar International Airport every day, and in near future we are going to add more as we have already taken up the matter with the airline owners,” Mir said.

Meanwhile Director Tourism Talat Parvaiz has hailed the development   and hoped that such a move would promote tourism in the valley.
