The armies of India and Pakistan on Saturday exchanged light mortar shelling across the line of control in Uri.

Officials said that the firing started at around 11 am today in Kamalkote sector near the line of control.

Authorities have shut the primary and middle schools in the area as a precautionary measure, officials said.

Latest reports from Uri said that an 18 year old girl has suffered splinter injuries in the shelling. The girl was identified as Nasreena Bano, daughter of Fakeeullah, resident of  Madya Kamalkote. “The girl has received splinter injuries and is on way to Uri Sub District hospital,” officials said.
