Heavy shelling and firing exchanges were on between Indian and Pakistani Army on Monday morning on the Line of Control (LoC), reports said.

A defense spokesperson said that Pakistan resorted to unprovoked targeting of the Indian positions on the LoC in Bhimber Gali sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The indiscriminate firing using small arms, automatics and mortars that started from 7.30 am is still on,” Mehta told a news gathering agency.

The Indian Army was retaliating strongly and effectively, he added.

On Sunday, Indian forces resorted to “unprovoked firing” and targeted a Pakistan Army vehicle across the Line of Control (LoC), reports quoting Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Indian forces fired on the vehicle at Athmaqam area across the LoC, the ISPR said in a statement, in fresh violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries, GEO News reported.

As a consequence, the vehicle plunged into Neelam River. The body of one soldier has been recovered, while the search is on for the remaining three, the statement read.
