Five civilians have suffered injuries after army resorted to firing at Wulerhama area of Islamabad district in southern part of Kashmir Wednesday morning.

The people in the area were protesting against an attempted braid chopping in the area, reports said.

They said at around 7:00 am an alleged braid chopping attempt was made on one Shareefa wife of Zulfiqar Ahmad in Sofi Pora area of Wulerhama.

As people tried to nab the alleged braid chopper army allegedly rushed to his rescue triggering protests in the area, they said.

Sources said that people pelted stones at an army vehicle and the soldiers in return fired bullets injuring at least 5 persons.

The injured have been shifted to District Hospital Islamabad.
