While all tourists and their luggage is safe police is still searching for Guroo’s body.

 

LAL CHOWK

Mehbooba-in-AssemblyIn the on-going state assembly session, CM Mehbooba hit out at the opposition and the media for playing up sensitive issues. The lady CM accused media of ‘misreporting’ and “painting Kashmir in a bad light” while writing about the ‘controversial’ Sainik Colony. Acting hard she warned of ‘stern’ consequences whoever “disrupts peace”. The outburst came after Independent legislator Engineer Rasheed targeted government and accused them of building a separate township on the outskirts of Srinagar for retired soldiers.

MENDHAR

Land is a sensitive issue in J&K, no matter how small the area is. Recently, a woman was critically injured, leaving her with 13 stitches on her head, by her nephew, over two marla of land. The injured woman, Kaneez Begum, a resident of Ari, Mendhar was attacked with an axe.  The dispute was over a piece of land on which Kaneez was growing vegetables.

JAMMU

Jammu-Muslim-LeaderSyed Shabir Ahmad Shah, a Jammu based Muslim leader, has been slapped with PSA and jailed at KotBhalwal prison last month. Shah having 15 charges against him, is been accused of being a ‘habitual criminal, mischievous cheater and a desperate character’ and a ‘threat to peace’. Family, however, maintains that the court has dismissed all the cases against him. Interestingly, Shabir led Chahrum prayers for late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Jammu and has attended India’s republic day ceremony every year, his family has told the court.

KATRA

srinagar-dharamshalla-busThe recently started Dharamsala-Srinagar bus service, started with an intention to connect two tourist districts in Himachal and Kashmir respectively, has been curtailed to just three days. Reason: security issues. The journey will now end in Katra only. On its flag off day, three policemen were killed and on the second day, there was a blast in the area. Had this been successful, then next thing in the pipeline was a luxury bus facility for serving Indian Army and paramilitary troops from Himachal serving in Jammu and Kashmir.
