CRPF is deploying all its mine-protected vehicles (MPVs) in Kashmir, DG Prakash Mishra has said. Reason: these vehicles are useless in Maoist-affected areas, where they did more harm than good. Unlike Kashmir, which Mishra says is better, insurgents in Maoist use IEDs with high amount of explosives to the extent that when they blast, the vehicle is thrown 30 feet up and soldiers die due to injuries sustained during the ground impact. CRPF has 115 MPVs in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
