In a shocking incident burglars in the outskirts of Srinagar City set a disabled lady on fire after robbing gold and cash from the house.

Reports said that two burglars broke into the house of Mohammad Sultan Parray son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Maloora HMT. “I was alone at my home as all the other members of the family had gone to nearby fields. I heard some mysterious noises as I came out slowly, I saw two masked men carrying cash and gold,” physically disabled Shameema Bano told CNS adding that Burglars after her intervention sprinkled kerosene on her.

Shameema saved herself by jumping into a stream. Eyewitnesses said that for a while they thought that Shameema was dead.

After setting the lady ablaze the burglars managed to loot cash and gold worth Rs 25 lakhs. “I had set apart all the jewelry for my daughters and some jewelry belonged to my daughter-in-law,” Mohammad Sultan said.

Confirming this incident, a top police official told CNS that burglars sprayed kerosene oil on the lady and decamped with Rs five lakh cash and Jewelry worth Rs 20 lakh. “We have registered a case vide FIR number 204 under section 307, 457, 380 RPC and hunt has been started to nab the culprits,” he said.
