Governor NN Vohra visited the Bhaderwah Campus of the Jammu University today to launch the 5 day SANGAM 2017-18, the Chenab Valley Youth Festival, which had been first organised in 2014 and has since become an annual feature.

SANGAM 2017-18 has been organised by Prof GM Bhat, Rector, Bhaderwah Campus in collaboration with Col DD Pandey, CO 4 RR and with support from the District Civil, Police and other organisations.

A very special feature of SANGAM 2017-18 is that, unlike as in past years, it has attracted participation of nearly 700 students from each of the 10 Chenab Valley Colleges, 5 of the 7 Jammu University’s Off-site Campuses, 10 Schools in Bhaderwah and  one school from Paddar.

Governor complimented Prof. Bhat and Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice- Chancellor, University of Jammu for organising this important event and securing such large participation of youth. He particularly thanked Brig. Rohit Nautiyal, Commander 4 Sector RR and Col. D.D. Pandey CO, 4 RR and other officers and men of 4 RR who have assisted this festival. Stressing the crucial importance of providing healthy outlets for youth to enable them to develop and display their talents, Governor urged Prof. Sharma to organise more and more youth festivals.

Governor observed that Maj Ambrish Mahanta, who is 2 I/C of 4 RR had served as his ADC for 2 years and he and First Lady Mrs. Usha Vohra were happy to meet him again.

Governor and First Lady witnessed a scintillating cultural programme which focused on the education of the girl child, national integration and preservation of traditional cultures and handicrafts.

Governor visited the Campus and met students and participants in the Festival before leaving for Srinagar.
