SRINAGAR: A young man who was hit by a bullet in his abdomen in post-encounter clashes has died in the hospital, sources said.

Identified as Akeel Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Gabarpora Hawl, he had received a bullet in his abdomen. He was rushed to hospital on Pulwama and was referred to SKIMS hospital where he died during early hours today.

Police sources confirmed the death. Doctors treating the slain said that his liver had ruptured due to the bullet injury.

With Bhat’s death, the civilian toll around the Hakripora encounter has reached two. On Tuesday a driver Firdous Ahmad Khan, of Beegumbagh Kakapora was hit by a bullet near the gunfight site. He was far away from the site of the clash. Khan had returned home after his trip to Jammu only Monday evening. He is father to a three year old daughter and his wife is pregnant.

Protests broke out at various places on Tuesday after abu Dujana and his associated were killed in an encounter. Reports said more than 40 people were injured in police action at various places, some of whom have received grievous injuries.
