WAPCOS-LimitedThe office-cum-residence of Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) was damaged due to cloudburst in Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, no casualties have been reported as all employees had reportedly taken shelter to safer places before torrential rainfall triggered flash floods.

“On 22nd July 2015 the first cloudburst struck the area which caused flash floods in Biama Village and on 28th July the office and the vehicle of the department (WAPCOS) were washed away,” said spokesperson of WAPCOS, in an official handout.

He said that department had a work contract with the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation for the Project Management Consultancy of 9 MWs each Dah and Hanu Hydroelectric Projects.

He said that RK Gupta, CMD WAPCOS was monitoring the situation himself and directed AK Gahlot, the project head to provide financial assistance to all employees in Biama, Leh who lost their belongings. Gupta also reportedly prayed for the people of the State particularly Biama, Leh

The spokesperson said that the department is looking for new office-cum-residence at a safer place that will work till completion of the project.
