JAMMU: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, hosted an Iftar here this evening. Around 1000 guests representing different walks of life attended the Iftar.


Speaker, Kanvinder Gupta; Ministers; several Legislators; Vice President, PDP, Muhammad Sartaj Madni; GoC, 16 Corps; officers of civil administration and Police, besides members of the media fraternity and prominent citizens and members of civil society attended the Iftar.

As the dusk set in, the lawns of the Chief Minister’s residence reverberated with thanks for the Almighty after which the participants broke their fast with dates and juices.

On the occasion, Mehbooba Mufti interacted with the guests and wished them well.

A special attraction of the Iftar this year was the presence of the youth from Jammu who had qualified this year’s civil services examination. The Chief Minister gave them her blessings and wished them luck in their career ahead.

Special arrangements were made for the invitees, males and females, to offer Maghrib prayers.

The Iftar event came amid reports that a section of right wingers were resorting to deliberate provocations to disrupt the communal amity. The police have, in Ustad Mohalla incident, made certain arrests and reported installed some CCTVs to keep watch on happenings around.
