Srinagar

A complete shutdown is being observed in the Kashmir valley on Saturday against attempts to abrogate Article 35A of Indian Constitution.

The call for the shutdown has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. It was also supported by traders, fruit growers, and transporters.

All shops, business establishments, and educational institutions are closed while traffic is off the roads across Kashmir.

The government has deployed troops and police personnel in strength across the Kashmir Valley to prevent people from staging protests.

Authorities have imposed restrictions in old city parts of Srinagar. Barricades have been erected at the entry and exit points.
