Srinagar

For the consecutive third week, since Jumatul Vida (Last Friday of Ramadan) no Friday prayers were allowed today at Kashmir’s historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

Besides heavy deployment of government forces all roads leading to the mosque in Old City were sealed with concertina wires while the gates of the mosque were locked aimed to curb the thousands of devotees from offering weekly congregational prayers, a statement of Hurriyat Conference (m) said.

Meanwhile Hurriyat (m) chairperson tweeted: “For the last 3 consecutive Fridays #JamaMasjid under lockdown& curfew, it reflects apathy &indifference of anti #Kashmir state towards people,” tweets Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
