The State Cabinet which met in Jammu Friday evening under the chairmanship of chief minister Omar Abdullah, gives nod to formulation of Solar Power Policy, accorded sanction to the creation of posts of different categories in several departments.

For the smooth functioning of the affairs of the J&K State Information Commission, the Cabinet accorded sanction to the creation of 15 additional posts in different categories in the Commission.

The Cabinet approved creation of 2 sub-transmission divisions one each in Leh and Kargil districts along with 5 sub-transmission sub-divisions and 149 posts for the same. The Cabinet also accorded sanction to the creation of 25 posts of Mineral Supervisors and 65 posts of Mineral Guards by corresponding reduction of 17 posts of drillers and 14 posts of drilling assistants in Geology and Mining Departments.

It also approved creation of 6 posts of various categories in Neuro Surgery Anaesthesia and critical care for the Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar. It also accorded sanction to the creation of 6 posts of Assistant Surgeons for various district and sub-jails in the Prisons wing, one each for District Jail Kathua/Sub-Jail Hiranagar, District Jail Udhampur/sub-Jail Reasi, District Jail Rajouri-Poonch, District Jail Baramulla-Kupwara, District Jail Bhaderwah/sub-Jail Kishtwar and District Jail Islamabad-Pulwama.

The Cabinet approved creation of 36 posts of various categories for proper implementation of Food Safety and Standard Act-2006 and Regulations -2011 in the state in a phased manner. It approved creation of 16 posts of different categories in J&K Legislative Council. It also approved creation of 10 posts for Lolab-Bangus-Drangyari Development Authority.

Cabinet also approved transfer of state land measuring 60 kanals situated in village Doomwani Tehsil and District Shopian in favour of J&K Technical Education Department for construction of Polytechnic College. It also approved transfer of state land measuring 431 kanals situated in village Madha Tehsil Chenani District Udhampur to University of Jammu for setting up Institute of Hotel Management related infrastructure.

It also accorded Administrative approval to the project for establishing a Housing Colony at Rakh-e-Arth for rehabilitation and resettlement of Slum Dwellers of Dal-Nigeen lakes at an estimated cost of Rs. 416.72 crore.
