The High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the state government to respond to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) submitted by the Bar Association Kashmir against the use of pellet guns by CRPF and police on protesters.

A Division bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey issued notices to the government, reports local news gatherer KNS.

The Kashmir High Court Bar Association had last week filed a Public Interest Litigation for banning use of pellet guns.

The court directed the government to respond by August 17 to the petition.
