A joint posse of Army, CRPF and cops appeared made a dramatic appearance in a belt of hamlets near Narbal around mid-night and left it devastated during wee hours with nearly 13 people.

They appeared in Kundalpora and then proceeded to Goripora, Wani Mohalla, Ahangar Mohlla and fainally to Gund Hasi Bhat wherefrom they left with men and allegedly many other things.

Residents said as they appeared in Kundalpora, they burst tear smoke shells in all directions. “There was no protest anywhere, it was just aimed at creating terror,” a resident Reyaz Ahmad said. “Then they started attacking home and whatever came in between.”

“They came in Caspers and from them they jumped into first floors of the houses, breaking windows,” Adil Ahmad, another Souzeth resident said. “They overturned vehicles, destroyed their windscreens and damaged homes.”

The residents said three houses belonging to Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Mohammad Sultan Dar and Abdul Qadir Wani were specifically targeted. “Not a single electronic item is saved – from a geyser to rice cooker, nothing is there now,” another resident alleged on phone. “You should come and see it yourself.” They said these house-owners were put to a huge loss.

From these all hamlets – living very close to each other, the forces team have arrested as many as 13 people. These included Owais Ahmad son of Sanaullah, Ishaq Ahmad son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, Mohammad Yasin, Danish Bilal, Farooq Ahmad Bhat and numberdar Habibullah. They are all residents of Kundalpora Souzeth.

Residents said Abhul Ahad and Danish are guests. While the former had come to join a phir-saal, the latter is a resident of Narbal.

Besides, the force took along Abdul Majid Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sultan, Ghulam Qadir Wani and Omar Sultan, the son of a handicapped man, whose daughter was recently married. Interestingly, his brother in law was also taken along with.

Residents said the entire belt is on road, waiting for the arrested. They said though they had informed the civil administration to take note of the damages nobody has visited the area so far. They alleged that some house have lost their precious possessions during the nocturnal raids.

Police in a late evening statement denied smashing windowpanes, LCD TVs, refrigerators, or cars but admitted arresting “12 wanted stone pelters / trouble mongers”. It even said the some miscreants pelted stones on the police party insisting “a mild force was used to chase them away.”
