ISLAMABAD

Thousands of people on Tuesday held road rally in Dochenipora belt of South Kashmir’s Bejbehara today.

People, on bikes, cars, load carriers , and even disabled on the customized scooters started were part of the march from Kanelwan and marched in the villages of Dochenipora area. They were shouting pro Aazadi slogans and carrying green flags.

Youth, who were the main mobilizers of these rallies, had their faces covered. Some of them had written slogans on the shrouds that was covering their faces.

Tuesday rally was part of the schedule being held by Itihad-e- milat, joint organization of major sects in south Kashmir.

Another similar rally was organized from Bejbehara.

In Jablipora, Bejbehara, a rally was also held by Itihad-e- Milat, in which thousands of people participated. It was addressed by the top members of Ahl-Hadith, Jama’at-islami, JKLF, and Hurriyat.

Hurriyat leader Ghulam Nabi Sumji, termed this agitation as ‘different and long lasting.’

“This moment is different and the youth are up to shape their future, they are fed up with the atrocities being committed by the India,” Sumji Said. “There is only one cause that is aazadi, and we will not bow till we achieve the goal.”

“Sheikh (Abdullah) sold the people and Mufti (Sayeed) sold our conscience to Hindutwa. Then his daughter also did same drama just to finalize the deal with communal forces to kill us. This moment is different; people are against the Hindutwa agenda,” Sumji said. “Burhan’s death was mere spark to the agonized youth. People were fed up.”

The rally was held in the Eid Gah of Jablipora.

Meanwhile, people of the Bejebehara and adjoining areas alleged police harassment during nocturnal raids.
