In a shocking incident, packed apples boxes have been destroyed in a blaze in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on late Saturday night.

Reports said that at least 250 packs of apple were ready to be shifted to Srinagar and Delhi markets when some unknown persons set them ablaze in Sunwani area of Langate assembly segment in Kupwara.

The fruit produce belonged to Mohammad Sadiq Mir.

The packed apple boxes were stocked in a shed in Mir’s apple orchard which too has been completely destroyed in the incident which occurred around 11 PM.

According to Mir, he has incurred losses of around Rs 5 Lakh.

When those living around Sadiq’s orchard saw flames coming out of the shed, they called fire brigade but damages had been done when the fire fighters arrived.

Mir said that he has informed police about the incident, however, they are yet to visit the spot.

“We have not received any such information yet,” a cop from Police Station Kralgund said.
