Four Kashmiri separatist leaders, on Monday, were sent to 14-day judicial custody after they were arrested on charges of ‘fuelling unrest in the valley’.

Reports said that Metropolitan Magistrate Pankaj Sharma send Nayeem Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal and Bashir Ahmad Bhat alias Peer Saifullah to judicial custody till August 28.

The four were presented before the court after the expiry of their 10-day National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody.On July 24, the NIA arrested them on charges of criminal conspiracy and waging war against India.

Altaf Ahmad Shah is the son-in-law of Hurriyat (G) leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Islam is a close aide and media advisor of Hurriyat (M) leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Ayaz Akbar is the spokesperson for the Geelani-led Hurriyat.

Meanwhile, a Delhi Court on Monday extended Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) remand of Mohammad Aslam Wani by six days in the alleged terror funding case.

He is a close aide of separatist leader Shabir Shah.

On August 6, the ED arrested Wani from Srinagar with the help of the state police.
