Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Wednesday paid tributes to slain Showkat Ahmad Falahi of Shopian who was killed in a scuffle after militants killed a PDP worker in southern part of Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.

In a statement, the secretary general of DeM Nahida Nasreen said Showkat was a religious scholar who in the truest sense had contemplated Islam, role of youth in the society and significance of Jihad. It flowed in his blood. She said that Showkat belonged to a family that has roots in Islam and is associated with “Tehreek-e-Islami”. “The killing of Falahi is a huge loss to the Kashmir.”

Nasreen expressed solidarity with the family and said that the family didn’t remain content by just preaching the word of Allah but also stood by every step of their son. She said that the father of Falahi during his funeral procession addressed the mourners bravely and impressed on the significance of Jihad, besides reiterating the call of “Inzimam-e-Pakistan”. This is very courageous, she said.
