Panic gripped in the Srinagar’s SMHS hospital on Saturday after a fire broke out in hospital’s trauma theatre forcing the attendants to evacuate their patients from the adjoining ward.
An official from the SMHS hospital said that fire engulfed the trauma theatre waiting area around 11 am on the second floor of casualty block, adding that people were running from one end to other.
The attendants and the patients in adjacent to the theatre tried to move beds out of the ward as the fire spread, the official added.
The reports also said that the theatre and the Neuro ward have been damaged. However, the fire tenders reached the spot and prevented the fire from spreading, he said.
