Four students of a private school from Sopore town of this north Kashmir district brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir as they won two gold and an equal number of bronze medals in the 9th All India Dhammika Kai Karate Championship held at Jodhpur in Rajasthan.

Usman Amin, Tamveel Javaid, Mohsin Aijaz and Faizan from Sanctorum Public School, Sopore, were part of Jammu and Kashmir Dhammika Karate Team.

Faizan, a 2nd standard student was adjudged as best state fighter.

Students from 22 states participated in the championship in which team J and K secured first position by winning 33 medals including Nine gold , seven silver and 17 bronze in different age and weight categories.

As many as 45 players from different districts represented Jammu and Kashmir in the championship besides team coach Vikas Singh Charak, Assistant coaches Mohammad Amin Dar, Shahzad Ahmad , Digvijay Singh, Farooq Ahmad Sofi and team Manager Anil Kumar.

The state dhammika Kai Karate team was Saturday given a rousing welcome on its return back home by the General Secretary Dhammika Kai Jammu and Kashmir Karate Association Tarun Sharma, officials of the association, parents and sports enthusiasts at Jammu Railway Station.

The players of Jammu and Kashmir played under the supervision of sensei Umesh Rekhi President Dhammika Kai Jammu and Kashmir Karate Association, who also holds the tag of J&K first national Referee from Karate association of India.

Meanwhile, General Secretary, Tarun Sharma congratulated Umesh Rekhi President Dhammika Kai Jammu and Kashmir Karate Association, p layers, coaches, parents and team and conveyed his good wishes.
