Hurriyat (g) executive body (Majlis Shoora) Wednesday held a meeting at Hyderpora under the chair of its Chairperson Syed Ali Geelani which was attended by the heads and representatives of Muslim Conference, Muslim League, Muslim Democratic League, People’s League, Democratic Political Movement, Insaaf Party, Kashmir Freedom Front, Tehreek-e-Mazahamat, People’s Political League, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Mass Movement, Islamic Political Party, Tehreek-e-Khawateen Kashmir and Freedom League.

The meeting decided that Geelani will meet the Pakistan Prime Minister’s advisor on security and foreign relation Sartaj Aziz, said Hurriyat (g) in a statement. The statement added that Geelani will apprise Aziz about the prevailing situation of the state and will stress him that Pakistan should show stability and consistency in its Kashmir policy and they should activate their diplomatic channels to highlight this human issue in the world forums in a better way.

The meeting had threadbare discussion over the important issues like the attempts of removing of Article 35-A, creation of Sainik colony for the former Indian army troopers in the Kashmir valley and the invitation received from the office of the Pakistan High Commission for the occasion of the proposed Indo-Pak national security advisors meeting and also discussed the future strategy in this regard, Hurriyat (g) said.

The Majlis Shoora of Hurriyat (g) expressed deep concern and anguish that the Indian government is in hurry to influence the disputed nature of Jammu & Kashmir and to change the demography of the state and for this purpose on the one hand a writ petition had been filed in the supreme court of India regarding the Article 35 A to challenge the special status of Jammu & Kashmir and on the other hand the government is preparing to settle the former Indian army men in an Israel type of colony in the Kashmir valley.

Hurriyat (g) cautioned that the Kashmiri nation will not allow anybody to implement these plans and if needed they will come on the roads against that. “All the pro-freedom people will be on the same page in this regard and the people related to every walk of life will also be taken into confidence.”

While terming the attitude of the Mufti Sayeed government over these sensitive issues as ambiguous and suspicious, Hurriyat Majlis Shoora said that he is there to protect his own chair and he had given New Delhi a free hand on every issue. “It is a big tragedy that the pro-Indian politicians of Jammu & Kashmir have never fulfilled their responsibilities in the protection of the interests of Kashmiri Nation instead they have always helped and assisted the authorities in New Delhi.” Majlis Shoora constituted a committee headed by the general secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumji Sahab which will work on the finding and formulating strategies on these sensitive issues and will collect suggestions with regarding to the mobilization of the public consensus in this regard.

The Hurriyat Majlis Shoora praised the decision of Pakistan government to invite the Kashmiri pro-freedom leadership on the occasion of the proposed Indo-Pak national security advisors meeting and said that India government should also accept this fact that advancement without mentioning Kashmir is not only difficult but an impossible practice. “And until the Kashmir is addressed as core issue and sincere efforts are made to resolve this long pending dispute, the dream of pleasant relation between India and Pakistan can’t be converted into reality. BJP rulers should know this fact that the kind of fanatic politics which they were playing while in opposition can’t be continued while ruling. Kashmir is a Himalayan reality and this reality can’t be changed by closing one’s eyes.”

Expressing her inability to attend a meeting with Pakistan national advisor Sartaj Aziz because of her “bad health”, Dukhtaran e Millat president Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi has, however, said that Kashmir should be the core issue of the talks between the two countries held anywhere at any level.

A Dukhtaran e Millat spokesperson in a statement issued to KNS said that the party president was formally invited by Pakistan national advisor Sartaj Aziz for a meeting before he meets his Indian counterpart in New Delhi. The spokesperson, however, said that Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi is in “bad health and unable to take a long journey”.

She said that Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi has a problem in both her knees and is being given therapies on daily basis. The spokesperson said that Dukhtaran e Millat president’s inability of taking a long journey was duly conveyed to the Pak high commission in India.

Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi has, however, stressed upon Pakistan to talk about Kashmir as a core issue on whichever level talks are held with India. She said that Kashmir is a core issue between India and Pakistan and a basis of all the issues both the countries are burdened with. She said that India wants to engage Pakistan in the supplementary issues and wants to keep the Kashmir on back burner which should be never and in no case accepted by Pakistan.

She hoped, “Sartaj Aziz on his meeting with Indians will make it very much clear that no talks can proceed between the two countries without Kashmir being the centre point.”

“Pakistan has a strong case over Kashmir and she should talk with authenticity and confidence and should not give an impression as if she is in awe of India. May be both the countries have diplomatic compulsions to have meetings but let one thing be clear enough that India and Pakistan cannot have good trade and other relations until Kashmir was solved as per the wishes of Kashmiris,” the spokesperson quoted Syedah Andrabi and added that on one hand is India trying to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir and is playing dangerous games and on other hand is engaging Pakistan in so called talks.

The spokesperson further quoted party president as having said, “we are not against Pakistan talking to India but the bilateral relation should in no case be on the cost of Kashmir”.

She has further said that Kashmiris are fighting for a legitimate cause and Pakistan’s support to the movement in just enough. She said that Sartaj Aziz should ask India not to play the dirty games in Jammu Kashmir to change the demography of the disputed state and at the same time should raise the issue of human rights violations being done by Indians in this area that has since long been occupied by India illegally. She further said that Pakistan should not do even a little compromise on its just stand about Kashmir.
