GANDERBAL: Extending further the benefits of CM Scooty Scheme, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday distributed scooties among the 50 meritorious girl students of the district here.

The aim of launching the scheme, Ms Mufti told students, is to provide better mobility to girl students so that they can chase their dreams in a better way and without any difficulty. She hoped the scheme would instill confidence among the girl students and they can concentrate better on studies and bring laurels to their parents and society.

Mehbooba Mufti said keeping the same objective in mind, her Government ordered the start of a ladies bus service in the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu for the convenience of women commuters and possibilities would be explored to extend the said service to other districts as well.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the successful execution of the scheme and advised the students who got the scooties today to use the same while observing proper traffic norms. She said she was happy today that girl students from Ganderbal have joined this scheme which would give them a logistic and psychological advantage in their lives.

The scheme, it may be recalled, was launched by the Chief Minister in September last year and so far 1100 girl students from different colleges of the State have been covered under it. Under the scheme, 50% subsidy is provided by the Government to meritorious girl students for buying scooties.
