The Jammu and Kashmir government has rejected the demand for a holiday on the birth anniversary of last Dogra ruler Hari Singh.

The decision came to light after the government issued an order regarding holidays for 2018, in which September 23 had not been marked.

There was reaction from Jammu  accusing BJP of not coming to the expectation of fulfilling their promise.

In September 23, this year, reacting to the protests, deputy chief minister Nirnal Singh had has announced that the day would be declared a state holiday in the 2018 calendar.

“I fail to understand why thia regime is hell-bent on humiliating people of Jammu region,” said former lawmaker VIkramaditya Singh. Singh who is also a grandson of Hari Singh quit PDP on October 22 this year over ‘discrimination’ against the Jammu region
