Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a youth who allegedly threw acid on a girl in Kralgund area of Handwara in Kupwara district day earlier.
“The youth was arrested in Palpora Qazigund by a special police team headed by SHO Kralgund M. Azam Khan,” reports said, quoting a police official.
The accused has been identified as Aijaz Ahamd Dar of Palpora Qazipora.
Earlier on Tuesday police launched a manhunt to arrest the accused acid was thrown on on a 25-year old girl.
Police said the youth threw acid on the girl in Kralgund Handwara. The victim was immediately shifted to District Hospital Baramulla by some locals for treatment, where her condition is stated to be stable.
