Yousuf Nadeem one of the senior separatist activists was shot dead when he on the way home, police said.
Nadeem, an employee of PDD had boarded a Tavera and was on way from Beerwa to Budgam, police sources said, a person boarded the same vehicle and shot him dead.
All other passengers deboarded the vehicle and fled the spot. Police said there are in the process of collecting more details and it will take some time.
Yousuf Nadeem was a former militant of Hizbul Mumineen and was actively associated with Tahreek-e-wehdat. The group was part of Hurriyat Conference.
Sources said his actual name is Mohammad Yousuf Rather, a resident of Sundipora Beerwa. A head clerk in PDD posted at Beerwa he was travelling in a service Tavera when he was killed at Charangam on Beerwa Budgam road.
