Srinagar

Sumbal and its adjoining areas in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district Monday observed a complete shutdown and blocked Srinagar-Bandipora road against the stoppage of work on the construction of Sumbal Bridge.

The protesters disrupted the traffic for hours and alleged that government is non-serious in completing the construction work of the Bridge.

“In four years only 10 per cent work was completed and now the construction work on the bridge has been stopped. This bridge is vital for the people to get them connected with other parts while schools children are the worst sufferers,” the protesters told CNS.

The call for shutdown was forwarded by Coordination Committee who threatened to launch an agitation if work on the bridge is not resumed within five days. (CNS)
