SRINAGAR

Indian Republic Day celebrations passed off peacefully across Kashmir where Div Com hoisted the tricolour in Bakhshi Stadium.

Police sources said that no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the Valley on Indian Republic Day for which adequate security arrangements were put in place.

It was for the first time in last twenty years that a civilian administrator presided over the Valley’s main January 26 function because of the governor’s rule on the state.

NN Vohra, took over the administrative affairs of Jammu and Kashmir on January 8 after then care taker chief minister Omar Abdullah decided to resign.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal took salute at the march past at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.

Deputy Commissioners of respective districts presided over the January 26 functions elsewhere in the valley.
