Islamabad: Islamabad police in its drive against drug peddlers on Tuesday intercepted a truck coming from Delhi and travelling to Srinagar and recovered a huge quantity of codeine phosphate from its possession.

Acting on a specific information, a police party led by SSP Zubair Ahmed Khan intercepted vehicle number JK05B-6704 coming from Delhi to Srinagar and during checking recovered 39 boxes containing 4680 bottles of codeine.

The driver and the conductor of the truck have been identified as Majid Abass Wani from Shagerpora Rakh e Shilvath Sumbal and Tawseef Ahmed Parray of Wangipora Sumbal and both have been detained.

A case has been registered under FIR no 21/ 2017/u/s 8/21 about the accused, and further investigation has been taken up.
