National Panthers Party chief, Bhim Singh, Friday condemned the killing of Sikh youth in Jammu.

According to a party statement, the NPP chief including his other leaders demanded high power judicial inquiry and a compensation of Rs 1 Crore to the family of the deceased young man who has been “killed ruthlessly in the day light and public” while exercising his right to protest. “Right to protest, express views and right to speech is fundamental right of every citizen and its denial is an offence,” the statement said.

The NPP leaders accused PDP-BJP government for creating such a situation in the peace-loving city of temples by “such dastardly acts to divert the attention of the citizens in Jammu from the real issues and upper most is the AIIMS”.

“This outrageous act of gunning down a young man was aimed to create tension and disturbed harmony.”

The statement further said that the law of the land does not authorize anybody, even the Kings and Monarchs to kill any person. “There is law of the land to deal with any situation or with any offence committed by any person or persons,” the statement added.

The NPP made an appeal to the people of Jammu from all walks of life to keep their centuries’ old tradition of communal harmony which has been a cultural entity of the people of Jammu.
