Jammu and Kashmir officials have decided not to observe one day strike called by All India Trade Unions in view of the efforts made by valleyites to overcome economic break down post September 2015 floods.

“In light of the resurrection efforts of the people attached with trade and other businesses after the devastation of economy of valley and infrastructure providing support to it to get it back on rails, the Jammu Kashmir Bank officers Association has decided to not observe the one day strike called by All India Trade Unions and supported by the Financial sector TUs especially All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA),” a JKBOA statement said on Sunday afternoon.

“However,” the statement asserted that this does not dilute its support to the protest lodged by these TUs against the policies of the Government and issues brought in forefront in the interest of the working class particularly Bank officers and Employees which include:

1-      opposing the merger of small private sector Banks to create bigger Banks

2-      Making wilful default of Bank Loan a criminal offence.

3-      Stringent measures for recovery of Bad Debts termed NPAs of The Banks

4-      Regulation of working hours for officer staff of The Banks.
