JAMMU: Dr Haseeb Drabu on Thursday announced interest subvention to the loans that students will avail for pursuing their post-graduation and PhD levels studies. The interest costs will be borne by the state government till they complete their courses.

The move is aimed at helping the students to move out for better studies and choose the best teaching universities across the world.

Drabu said there are various scholarships being extended to help these studies but in next weeks, the basket will be revisited and revised for better performance on ground.

Finance Minister also announced an allocation of Rs 5 crore to fund the CM’s Scooty scheme for girls in districts which have hitherto not been touched by the scheme. He has also set aside Rs 5 crore or professional career counselling set up to help youth.

In an interesting twist to similar programmes being implemented by various stakeholders, the finance minister has set aside Rs 10 crore to fund tours of 13000 students to the rest of the country. He asked lawmakers they can nominate 100 boys and girls to avail this travel.
