Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Wednesday completed three training programs in which 156 candidates from three districts of the state were trained. The three-week Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs) were held under Himayat Self Employment scheme for the unemployed youth of districts Rajouri, Kishtwar and Srinagar.

In Rajouri 43 candidates including seven females completed the training successfully and were certified to start their units in retail, services, manufacturing and agro-allied sectors. In Kishtwar district, 70 candidates including seven females from different parts of the district were trained to start their business ventures. The training program was conducted at District Employment and Counseling Centre, Kishtwar. The EDP for the candidates of Srinagar district was held at JKEDI Pampore campus and 43 youth including six females successfully completed the training to start their entrepreneurial ventures.

The Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP) were conducted under Himayat Self Employment scheme being implemented by the Institute for the educated unemployed youth of the state in the age group of 18-35 years so as to enable them earn their livelihood. The candidates have chosen a varied range of activities. The trained candidates shall be provided financial linkage under Term Loan scheme of National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC).

The Entrepreneurship Development Programs were modeled for manufacturing, services and agri-allied sectors so as to enable the aspirants to choose from a range of entrepreneurial activities viable in their respective areas.

EDPs (training) are part of the Institute’s ongoing process to reach every nook and corner of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and equip the unemployed youth with life sustainable business skills. The EDPs are generally aimed at providing lessons on skill development, performance improvement as well as business cum sector specific and self-development training to the participating youth. The trained aspirants hailed the training curriculum which they said has given them confidence to start their entrepreneurial journey.
