SRINAGAR: Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik have asked people to observe complete hartal on Sunday, November 19.
A late night statement said the strike is being observed “as a mark of protest against the cordon and search operations being carried out by Indian armed forces in the valley during which dozens of resistance armed youth have been martyred since the last week in various areas including Hajin Pulwama zakura and other places.”
The two paragraph statement paid tributes to the slain. “As severe state repression continues and there is stubbornness on the part of Government of India with regard to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” the statement said, “a section among the youth feels forced to find expression to their political aspirations and will by resorting to armed means”.
“JRL reiterated that Government of India should stop the killings and instead resolve the internationally acknowledged Kashmir issue  in accordance with internationally accepted means of dispute resolution so that precious human lives are not lost and peace and security prevails in the region,” the statement said.
