The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday nominated Justice Ramalingam as the Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) for a period of three years. The judge was nominated in consultation with the chief justice of the high court, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed, an official spokesman said.

He said Ramalingam was nominated by exercising the powers conferred under section 3(2)(b) of the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authorities Act, 1997 and by superseding a government notification of 2014. The SLSA was constituted on February 18, 1998. “The nomination shall be for a period of three years from the date of issuance of the notification,” the spokesman said.
