Fed up with “cheating’ by the employees of Rural Development Department and their “pathetic attitude’ towards locals, a number of residents on Wednesday demanded that a high-level inquiry be ordered into the large-scale “bungling” in the department.
People of various wards of Katyara Sherakhi are up in arms against the officials of Rural Development department (RDD) accusing them of misuse of funds meant for development of these areas.
Most of the villagers allege misuse of funds under the Rural Development Schemes especially the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Panchayat share and others heads and demanded inquiry.
The villagers claimed that they have repeatedly brought the matter to the notice of the authorities concerned but no action has been taken so far.
Warning the administration, the villagers said that an inquiry should be ordered or else they will hit roads and start an agitation.
They alleged funds of lakhs of rupees are being swindled under the scheme by being withdrawn on the names of few blue-eyed influential people, including government employees, and even those who are not BPL.
