The Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri, while replying on behalf of Minister for Home to a Calling Attention Notice of Qaiser Jamsheed Lone informed the House Friday that a missing report about Farooq Ahmad Malkar of Gujjer Basti, Zirhama was lodged by his brother Khursheed Ahmad Malkar on 18 August 2014 in Police Post Awoora (Kupwara). The missing report to this effect was entered in the daily diary of Police Post, Awoora vide DD report No.07 dated 18.08.2014.

According to an official statement, the Minister said that on 17 October 2014, Khursheed Ahmad Malkar lodged another report in Police Station Trehgam alleging that the dead body of his brother Farooq Ahmad Malkar, who was missing since 15 August 2014 is lying in Haji-Nard Jungle, Zirhama. He further alleged that his brother was kidnapped and killed by some unknown person(s). Upon this, case FIR No.76/2014 u/s 364, 302 RPC was registered in Police Station, Trehgam and investigation taken-up.

“During the course of investigation, a number of suspects including Nazir Ahmad Muhgal S/O Syed Rehman Mughal R/O Manigah (Adopted son of Bahadur Khan R/O Zirhama) was brought to Police Post, Awoora for questioning on 10 February 2015 in the above said FIR. In the evening hours, on the same day, the said person complained of chest pain and was shifted to District Hospital, Kupwara for treatment where from he managed to escape. The police party conducted thorough search of the hospital but he could not be traced. The next morning i.e. on 11 February 2015, his dead body was found in the premises of District Hospital, Kupwara. Proceeding under Section 174 Cr. PC was initiated to ascertain the cause of death. After completion of all medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to his NOK’s for last rites,” he informed.
