As authorities severely clamped down on separatists in valley in view of a joint rally from Jamia Masjid to Naqshband Sahib post noon prayers today to pay tributes to Martyrs of July 13, 1931, some resistance groups tried to take out a protest march from Shaheed Ganj and adjoining Maisuma but were arrested on way to Martyrs graveyard.

Spokesperson of Muslim League – a constituent of Hurriyat (g) – Rafiq Ganie said that his party led by Abdul Ahad Parra tried to take out a march from Shaheed Ganj Jamia Masjid but police foiled it.

“Abdul Ahad Parra, Mohammad Khazir Ganai, Imtiyaz Hyder, Mohammad Ramazan Khan and Mohammad Yaseen Attai were arrested,” he said.

Meanwhile, chief of his JKLF faction and Hurriyat (m) leader, Javaid Mir was too arrested from city centre, Maisuma Chowk while he tried to move towards Martyrs graveyard.

Early in the day, unionists led by CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed paid floral tributes to July 13, 1931 martyrs.
