Suspected militants on Sunday evening attacked an army camp in Chillipora village of Shopian district.

Reports emerging said that massive gunshots were heard near the army camp. The army personnel retaliated by firing several shots, leading to a brief exchange of fire.

Soon after the incident, forces’ personnel comprising Jammu and Kashmir police, army’s Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off the whole area to nab the attackers, they said.

A top police official said that “Some gunshots were heard at an army camp in Chillipora on Sunday evening and they were retaliated. There was no report of any damage.”
