Militants escaped after exchanging gunfire with government forces after the latter cordoned off Khos Mohalla of Hajin town in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district early Friday.

Reports said that Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, 45 BN Central Reserve Police Force and Army’s 13 RR unit cordoned off Khos Mohalla of Hajin town after “specific” inputs about the presence of 2-3 LeT militants in a residential house around 3 am.

However, the exchange of gunfire continued for about 15 minutes while as cordon stayed intact, however on searching further “no militant was found,” an official said.

As the forces lifted the cordon around 7:30 am, the youth took to streets and pelted them with stones, said a witness.
