Former Congress minister from South Kashmir Ghulam Ahmed Mir is likely to replace Saif-ud-Din Soz as PCC Chief, informed sources told Kashmir Life.

Party sources said that after the Party high command has accepted Soz’s request for relieving him of the PCC President’s post, Mir who has the tacit support from Ghulam Nabi Azad, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha,may be appointed as the new PCC Chief.

Party sources said that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have supported Mir in the past “because the two leaders have faith in his capacity for running the congress organization in the state.”

The party insider told Kashmir Life that “since Saif-ud-Din Soz has functioned as the PCC Chief for about eight years the party high command wants the state unit of the Congress to be run by a young leader.Mir is young and honest.”
