SRINAGAR

Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain under house arrest and he was today – on 12 June – again stopped to participate in the Friday congregational prayers while as the police today placed Tehreek-I-Hurriyat general secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hurriyat Spokesperson Ayaz Akbar and district president Srinagar and Ganderbal Raja Mehraj-Ud-din under house arrest to prevent them from participating in the funeral prayers in absentia of Tehreek-I-Hurriyat activist Sheikh Altaf-Ur-Rehman and “they also were not allowed to perform their religious obligation”.

Terming police action against Hurriyat program as “state terrorism”, Syed Ali Geelani condemned it in strong words and said that Mufti Sayeed got exposed at every front and “for the want of power and chair”, he mortgaged the lives, property, dignity and honour of the people of the state with “RSS goons”.

He said that Omar Abdullah regime was a worst period but Mufti Sayeed had left this period behind and had openly “taken the front against the pro-freedom people”.

“We were desirous to participate in the funeral prayers in absentia of our activist Shaheed Sheikh Altaf-Ur-Rehman who was killed by the Indian secret agencies but the government didn’t allowed it and it is not only the worst kind of state terrorism but it is also the interference into the religious affairs,” he said.

Hurriyat Chairman said that this policy of the Mufti government will further destabilize the already disturbed state and all its “responsibility will be on the state government”. (KNS)
