Hurriyat Conference (G) Tuesday said Mufti government has put its chairman Syed Ali Geelani under house arrest from Monday evening and a heavy deployment of police force has been made around his residence.

While terming the action of the state administration as ‘fascism’, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement said that the Mufti’s slogan of “battle of Ideas” has practically come to a halt and he has miserably failed in facing the Geelani on political turf.

“Heavy police deployment surrounded the residence of Geelani Sahab located at Hyderpora at late 10:00 pm and blocked the main entrance gate with the police vehicle. A senior police officer informed the office staff that they have got the orders to imprison the Geelani Sahab in his own house. The police as usual have not produced any kind of court or government order for this arrest and nor they told that under which act and which section they have arrested Geelani Sahab,” he said.

While strongly condemning the government action, Akbar said, “After the Tral Friday public rally, the strange uneasiness is felt by the rulers from Delhi to Srinagar and Indian home ministry and its Media mafia are spending sleepless nights. From Indian home minister Mr. Rajnath Singh to MOS Mr. Jitender Singh, everybody is pressurizing the Mufti Sayed for arresting the Geelani Sahab.”

According to the spokesman, Mufti has “at last surrendered before the Indian rulers on every issue may it be the removal of AFSPA, return back of power projects and making of separate townships for Kashmiri Pandits and he gave a statement in the Ahmadabad city of Gujarat that he will act against the Geelani Sahab.”

The Spokesman said that house arrest of Geelani is against all the democratic and moral values and “this act is an act of state terrorism and hooliganism.”

“This is the accepted defeat of Mufti Sayed and by arresting Geelani Sahab he have actually proven that no pro-Indian politician including him can face the pro-freedom leader of Kashmir on political levels and they find no option other than to arrest him,” he added.
