SRINAGAR

A live operative workshop under the banner ‘Kashmir Health Servics Laparo Update-2013 (KHSLU) was conducted under the aegis of Directorate health services Kashmir (DHSK) at JLNM Hospital, Srinagar on Tuesday.

The event included live operative workshop of advanced laparoscopic surgeries besides CME on Minimal Access Surgery. The Guest operating faculty included Dr R Sarangi, Senior Laparoscopic Surgeon, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and Dr Shalabh Mohan, Senior Laparoscopic Consultant, Max Hospital, Gurgaon. Prof Muneer Khan, Director , Kidney Hospital was leading the local operating faculty team which included Dr H Vaqar Ahmad, Dr Akhtar Ganai , Dr Nazir Wani (Organising Secretary KHSLU – 2013 ).

The workshop and CME was attended by surgeons of Health Services Kashmir Division, surgical faculty of Government Medical College , Srinagar, SKIMS , SKIMS Medical College and a galaxy of retired surgical faculty.

The workshop was inaugurated by Director Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) / Patron KHSLU-2013 Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman whereas Principal Govt. Medical College, Srinagar Dr Rafiq Ahmad Pampori was the Guest of Honour.

The organising committee of the event included Dr Khurshid Iqbal (Organising Chairman), Dr Mohammad Iqbal (Joint Organising Secretary) and Dr Saleem Tak as Treasurer.

According to a statement DHSK in its effort to enhance the lapro skills of Laparoscopic surgeons across Kashmir Division has initiated to conduct advanced workshops like these so that there is dissemination of knowledge and gain of surgical skills among the surgeons resulting in smooth functioning of advanced surgeries at district and sub-district level thereby benefiting the patients at large and providing tertiary care at their doorsteps.
